Here are two great tips that I bet you’ve never heard of before, for managing your hair during the summer months or whilst on holiday.
1. Use a t-shirt to dry your hair instead of a towel. Patting your hair with a t-shirt will absorb just as much moisture as a towel, but the fibres are much softer and so will be more gentle on your hair. Rough drying your hair with a towel will disturb the cuticle and make your hair frizzy, something to be avoided especially if you use products to tame your frizz.
2. Rinse your hair thoroughly with fresh water before hitting the pool, but If chlorine has affected your colour then its worthwhile washing your hair with baking soda. It’s abrasive, but gentle and will exfoliate the hair and scalp removing a build up chlorine and styling products. Make a paste with baking soda and water and shampoo into your hair, rinse and shampoo again with a clarifying shampoo for best results.
But my best tip for protecting your hair and your colour during the summer is to simply wear a hat! Enjoy the sun!!
